In case you missed them I’ve been previewing the upcoming winter in a series of posts and videos. Radar summary is very quiet for the NYC Area. Dry air and comfortable temps hold strong between the two systems. Every ten minutes, it snaps a picture and sends it back to earth.
At 22,000 miles in space, NOAA's lonely GOES 16 East satellite stands watch over the Western Hemisphere. Lower 48 satellite shows one low pressure meandering off of the east coast, while the blizzard in the upper mid-west starts to ramp up. Beautiful Weather is built upon the data from one of these modern marvels.
Expect seas 1ft seas in the lower Harbor and Jamaica Bay, 1-2ft seas off of Coney Island. This time of year, whenever we see above normal temps, it usually happens when a weak to moderate high settles over us, creating sinking air that warms up nicely. In our area, a high pressure system will slowly head directly over us, bringing light NW winds and sinking air. As a powerful system enters the upper plains, warm air will be drawn up ahead of it.
